Jemma Lawson - Women in Trades

Grindley's second year Apprentice, Jemma Lawson, was recently featured in a video for the MBA Build Your Story – Women In Trades Program. Jemma is currently working on our Peninsula Villages project in Umina. Please click on the image below to view Jemma’s story.

Currently in Australia, women only represent 1% of building trades in the country. For many years the trade industry has been male-dominant, however, in recent years women in the construction industry have been on a rise and are continuing to boost Australia’s economic growth. By improving the participation rate of women in the workforce, particularly in male-dominated industries like construction, research conducted by UNSW states, Australia could potentially increase its economic growth by $25 billion over the next 10 years.

Thank you to the MBA for their efforts in supporting women in construction and for selecting to profile Jemma. We’re very proud of her hard work and commitment.
